Solar planning in Kolkata

Start with permission to use the roof, a safe access route and the electricity supplier named on your bill. On a dense or shared roof, usable space matters more than the building’s footprint.

Three checks before you size a system.

  1. Agree on the roof

For a shared roof, record the owner or association’s permission and which meter the system would serve. Mark water tanks, neighbouring shade and common-use space. Keep maintenance access clear before discussing a panel layout. Agree who can authorise maintenance visits and how residents will retain access to shared facilities.

  2. Check the route upstairs

Share photos of stairs, roof entry and the meter location. Ask the surveyor to check equipment access, cable routing, waterproofing and space around the inverter. A roof that looks open may still need a different layout. Note planned rooftop additions that could introduce new shade.

  3. Read the supplier on the bill

Do not assume CESC from a Kolkata address. Use the supplier and consumer category on the bill to ask about the current application, metering and approval steps. Read the relevant official reference below before accepting a proposal.

Check the site. Then the next step.

Send the site PIN, a recent bill and roof photos to Brijstar’s Siliguri team. Survey availability and installation scope need site-specific confirmation; this guide is not a local-office listing.
