Solar solutions

Compare your solar options

Lower bills and power-cut backup need different plans. Tell us what matters before choosing on-grid, hybrid or off-grid solar.

WHAT HAPPENS NOW

Your roof powers your day.

Solar serves the building first. The grid can accept eligible surplus or supply a shortfall.

In this example

Daylight example assumes solar meets the load, with surplus available to export where permitted. Export is not guaranteed.

What works well

  • Use rooftop solar for daytime demand.
  • No battery to purchase or maintain.

What to consider

  • Standard systems stop during a grid outage.
  • Export permission and credit depend on your utility.

THE DESIGN QUESTION

A useful starting point when daytime consumption is meaningful and backup is not the primary need. Check your load profile and local export rules.

A learning tool, not a system design or performance estimate. Generation, export and backup depend on site conditions, equipment and utility rules.

On-grid solar

Uses solar while connected to the electricity grid. Surplus electricity and billing follow local rules and approvals. Standard on-grid systems shut down during a power cut.

Hybrid solar with backup

A suitable inverter, battery and safety setup can power selected appliances during cuts. The inverter controls electricity from the panels and battery. Backup time depends on battery charge, system limits and what you run.

Off-grid solar

For sites without a usable grid connection, solar needs a separate power plan. Check daily use, seasonal sunlight, batteries and other backup. Confirm that Brijstar can support your site.

From survey to installation

We survey, design, supply, install and test the system. Your written quote should confirm approvals, roof work, monitoring and maintenance. Ask what is included and what costs extra.

Before you decide

Your solar
questions answered.

Will hybrid solar back up the whole building?

Not always. Confirm which appliances it supports, how much power it can supply and for how long. A hybrid label alone does not answer these questions.

Can batteries be added later?

Possibly. Check whether the inverter supports batteries and what wiring changes are needed. Not every on-grid system is ready for a battery.

Can I choose any system for my site?

We need to check suitability and availability first. Share your location, electricity use and what you need during power cuts.
